Scale Jinxes
A few years back, when I'd do my morning weigh ins, I got it in my head I had to do them within 10 minutes of waking up and using the bathroom else the results would be skewed. Don't ask why. I don't know where that came from.
Perhaps I thought sleeping made the fat cells shrink up and after a period of time of being awake, the fluffed themselves up again. It seems silly now, but I was dead serious. I ended up stopping after a stint of moving and traveling forced me to stop doing early morning weigh ins and only remembered the jinx today as I woke up an hour earlier than usual and just stayed in bed tossing and turning.
What Scale Jinxes have you given in to?

I had to laugh when I read these...I use to have both of these scale jinxes!
Whatever your scale jinx may be (and I think we all have them), the important thing is that you are consistent with the circumstances that you weigh. If you weigh within 10 minutes of waking up and after using the bathroom, just be sure to do it everytime you weigh.
Thanks,
Brian
I either never use the scale or over use it. I currently am avoiding it like the plague. When I did weigh in daily, I would always put the scale in the same corner of the room...as if the floor could affect the results.
jodi, I've done the exact same thing
a bad morning would be when all 3 tries gave a diff't answer: 191.2, 191.8, 191.4
gahhhhhh
Actually, Pat - there is some truth to your statement about the placement on the floor making a difference. I don't remember the source, but especially with digital scales, the condition of your floor (uneven, type of flooring, etc) can affect the number that appears. (Of course, I'll do multiple readings in the same place and get different numbers - so maybe it's just the scale)
I'm just glad to find out that stepping on the scale 3 times is a neurosis, er I mean necessity, shared by others!
My jinx is: Get out of bed, make it up, use the bathroom, place the scale in it's designated spot, and weigh three times. Then I curse a lot. No deviations from the pattern allowed.
By the way, the cursing doesn't seem to help at all.
That was so funny to read! I'm 3 months post-op and I do the same thing. I must be naked, hair dry (because wet hair might weigh more) and I can't have eaten or had anything to drink! Seems like the numbers have a better chance to be consistent!!
I don't get on the scale until after I pee, and before I put a thing into my system, including coffee.

i'm not sure if its a jinx or not but when i was doing daily-weighins, i would have to step on the scale at least 3 times... besides liking the number 3 - i have a digital scale and have to see the same number at least twice to be accurate...
