What is a BlogRoll?
BlogRolling is a one-stop linklist manager for your blog or journal. BlogRolling lets you know when the sites in your linklist were last updated by adding one simple piece of code to your website and you're off and running!
The fatfighters FitRoll appears on the home page and looks like this:

The flower on the right means the site was recently updated.
The FitRoll
Don’t mind me, I was just getting cute with the name, it’s really a blogroll. Ideally your blog should already be listed in the directory, if not, expect me to gently harass you till it is ![]()
There are a few ground rules:
- *Everyone who joins the blogroll MUST add the code to their blog. This way, we promote each other. Get the code here.
- Please add the code to the main page of your site first, then contact me to let me know the code has been added, don't forget to include your URL.
- For the near future, the blogroll will only have 50 blogs. If you want to be listed, join as soon as possible. If demand is great, I’ll increase the max number of blogs.
**Links will be checked monthly and dead blogs will be removed from the blogroll. You'll also be removed if your blog hasn’t been updated in over a month. The purpose of having the blogroll on the front page is to provide visitors with fresh reads on a semi regular basis. As links are removed, slots will be open up for others to join. So long as there is room you can reapply when your site gets active again.
*What if you already have a blogroll and you find that some of your existing reads are also listed on the fatfighters blogroll?
There is no conflict. Most people promote their various interest groups by having multiple blogrolls.
**The removal procedure just applies to the blogroll. The only time I remove links from the directory is if the URL goes dead, the person moves to another URL or the site is no longer weight related. I do not monitor whether or not site’s in the directory are being actively updated.
Once you join the FitRoll, consider joining the WebRing too.
Join the Ring
What is a WebRing?
A WebRing is a community of sites with related content, organized into a circular fashion. Each page in the ring has navigational links which lets visitors move forward to another site, pick a random site, go back to a previous site, or view the complete list of sites in the ring.
Those navigational links are installed via a snippet of code and once in place looks like this:

The fatfighters WebRing is open to any health/diet/weight loss related website. You do not need to be in the directory to join it, though it would be nice. Just sign up and place the code on your site. I get an email when a new person joins and will approve you once the ring checker detects the code on your site.
As an incentive, I’m designing buttons for all sites that are listed in the ring. Because it is a fun thing I do in my spare time, I can’t guarantee I’ll design one ASAP nor do I take specific design requests. Rather, I try to capture the personality of the site/person. You can see designs for current ring members here. Check that page or the webrings home page to see if your button has been posted. Once it has, feel free to claim it and use it on your site, you don’t need to check with me, consider it public domain.
So join the WebRing & get a button! Once you join the WebRing, consider joining the FitRoll too.
Buttonmaker
Needing a mental break from all the coding stuff, and trust me over the weekend I did some major coding, the creative part of me needed to come and play for a bit. It did and designed these buttons for the sites in the webring:

I really got a kick out of it & thought, wouldn’t it be cool if the fatfighters webring had a 100% button rate. Of course it would. Any site that joins the webring will get one too.
The only catch, no requests. Mainly because it’ll start to feel like work and I need to keep it fun. Plus I like visiting a site and based on that person’s existing design, using elements from it, their personality and/or site name to challenge myself into making something readable & creative on an 88x31 canvas.
I think that last part comes from watching HGTV all day long for almost 2 weeks straight when I was on vacation.
So join the webring & get a button! I can’t guarantee I’ll design one ASAP, most likely I’ll do this once a week. Once it’s up there, feel free to claim it and use it on your site, you don’t need to check with me, consider it public domain.
Just launched: Blogroll and Webring
With the directory nearing 200 sites and as I continue to grow our community of weight loss bloggers, it’s time to provide tools for people to promote their sites. This weekend I’m proud to kick off two new features you’ll now find on the left side of the homepage:
