Former Gilmore Girls actress and current movie headliner Melissa McCarthy has been turning heads with her unbelievable weight loss transformation over the last year and a half. Now the comedy star is releasing her own clothing line. In an interview with CNN (see her appearance on Ellen here), she made it plain that there would be no segregation with her label.
Melissa McCarthy Seven7 will have sizes ranging from 4 through to 28. She wants to do away with the plus-size label, saying that women come in all shapes and sizes . . .
“Seventy percent of women in the United States are a size 14 or above, and that’s technically ‘plus-size,’ so you’re taking your biggest category of people and telling them, ‘You’re not really worthy.’ I find that very strange,” McCarthy said. “I also find it very bad business. It doesn’t make a lot of sense numbers-wise. It’s like, if you open a restaurant and you say, ‘We’re primarily gonna serve people that don’t eat.’ “
Melissa has long had problems finding clothes that fit. Now that she’s down to a size 14, she wants to make it as easy as possible for other women to shop without feeling segregated. She demands that the retailers that stock her line display her clothing with all the other sizes.
